BlogWorld buys Small Business Summit

Earlier this week New Media Expo BlogWorld announced it had purchased the assets of the Small Business Summit and will continue to lay the foundation for expansion upon what my Summit partner, Ramon Ray, and I have built over the past seven years.

Since 2006 Ramon and I have produced the annual Small Business Summit here in New York City. You may have attended one or more of these exciting all-day events. We always enjoyed putting together a day packed with fascinating speakers, top notch panels, interesting exhibits and lots of high energy fun. We have known for quite a while that the potential for this event was much greater than we could manage alone. So when we were recently approached by a major digital media company we knew this was a terrific opportunity for the Summit to reach its true potential.

We have had an exceptionally successful partnership. Ramon has the technology mindset and I’m the business person. He has taken the lead to get sponsors and speakers and I have managed the production and administration of the events. We complement each others’ skills and assets and yet we both had the same vision: to create a memorable event bringing together the small business community with technology providers.  It’s always been about education, making connections and having fun.

Of course, we have also had a terrific team of professionals to help us carry out our tasks. We could not have done it without our long term team members including:

–          Laura Leites, L2 Event Production  (event management)

–          Andrew Schulkind, Andigo New Media (web design)

–          Beth Silver, Doubet Consulting (marketing and publicity)

–          Jeffrey Holmes, Jeffrey Holmes Photography

Ramon will continue to assist BlogWorld during the transition and ongoing. My efforts and energies will now be focused on Prime Strategies and Our Platinum Years, the budding community of active seniors age 60+. I will miss working with my wonderful partner and team members, but I believe our baby, the Small Business Summit, is in good hands. I look forward to watching it continue to grow and thrive in the future.
